On Monday 21st July, the Achieve Your Goals Team led another Green Careers session, this time for the incredible students at Armthorpe Shaw Wood Academy. The event began with an engaging presentation by the Achieve Your Goals team, introducing pupils to diverse environmental careers such as scientists, conservationists, foresters, and ecologists. The aim was to inspire curiosity and environmental awareness.
Activity Highlights:
- Being a Forester: Pupils measured tree branches and counted growth rings to estimate age, learning about trees' roles in ecosystems while applying mathematical skills.
- Being a Hydrologist: In lab gear, pupils tested water pH levels using indicator paper, gaining insight into how scientists monitor water quality.
- Being an Ecologist: Pupils examined water samples under lenses to identify tiny organisms, learning how ecologists study ecosystems and biodiversity.
- Holding Station: A calming area offered games, card sorts, and colouring sheets related to green careers, reinforcing learning through play.
Overall, the event combined hands-on activities with educational content to spark interest in environmental careers and promote sustainability awareness.
