It’s time for a quick look at how hard the National Grid is working today! 💡Our demand is currently at 33.6 gigawatts – 30.4 of which have been generated in the UK. 💸 It’s shaping up to be an expensive Wednesday, with a current cost of £61.80 per megawatt hour. 💨 Unfortunately, 186g of carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere per kilowatt hour - not good! ⚡️ The cloudy weather isn’t helping much today, as only 27.7% of our energy is coming from renewable sources. Yesterday we spent the afternoon with Hillary Primary School delivering an energy efficiency day for staff. We were joined by Alex Wilkes from @yes.energysolutions and representatives from @ourwalsall to provide staff with information regarding home energy efficiency. As well as providing the sustainable education programme within the classroom, Achieve Your Goals offers energy efficiency support and information for staff, parents, and the wider community, helping build a legacy of sustainability. What’s better than one install? Six of them! Our electrical partner @pmd_electrical has been visiting schools in Norwich and Doncaster this week to install our monitoring kits and here are a few of them in their new homes! These kits will allow schools to monitor their energy usage throughout school buildings, highlighting areas of excessive and wasteful use. Through these insights, school leaders will be able to make data-driven decisions and create short, medium, and long-term plans to reduce their carbon footprint and minimise their impact on the environment. The working day may be drawing to a close, but the @nationalgriduk keeps going! 💡Demand is at 32 gigawatts - 26.6 of which have been generated in the UK. 💸 Cost has reduced slightly to £41.05 per megawatt hour. 💨 Unfortunately, 151g of carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere per kilowatt hour - not good! ⚡️Fossil fuels have sadly overtaken renewable energy, with only 32.3% being generated from sustainable sources. It’s costing £41.50 per megawatt hour so far, with 140g of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere per kilowatt hour. However, the good news is that more energy is being generated from renewable sources than from fossil fuels! Yay! Good morning everyone! Eddie here, and it's time for my weekly check in. This morning, our demand for electricity has been 28.9 gigawatts, with 24.3 gigawatts being generated here in the UK. It has cost £41.10 per megawatt hour so far, with 163g of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere per kilowatt hour. Only 31.6% of this energy has been generated from renewable sources, while 36% has been generated from fossil fuels - particularly gas.
